Welcome to the online edition of Soshanguve Times, a digital communication publication for the community of Soshanguve.
Soshanguve Times recognises that the right to media freedom flows from the right to freedom of expression guaranteed in Section 16 of the Constitution of South Africa. Our publication plays a vital and indispensable role in facilitating the dissemination of information in the community of Soshanguve. This role places upon us a duty to act as a trustee for the public interest. In performing this duty, we uphold the values of the constitution.
To this end, we pledge to perform our duties to the highest standards of excellence, integrity, true, accurate, fair and balanced reporting.We pledge to report on fairness, – whether political, economic, commercial or social – with courage and with commitment to the truth. We will do so without being beholden to any interest group other than our readers and the citizens of Soshanguve and all South Africans.
We pledge to take seriously our role as a watchdog over the people, institutions and forces that shape our society. We do so, on behalf of our community readers and of the citizens of South Africa, especially those who otherwise would not have a voice. We pledge to seek diversity in the views and opinions we publish and to uphold the South African Press Code.
Soshanguve Times will have an online presence to deliver real time news to its readers. Our publication will provide government and business timeous access to the community and also cover community news, entertainment, business, politics and sports.
Our principles are based on encouraging community pride, spirit, tolerance and assist in the achievement of a cohesive modern day society. We are proud to be part of the development that is taking place in this community and our hope is that you will find value in our publication and its contribution to the growth and aspirations of the community.
